Dual Language Immersion
Additive Bilingualism
In our dual language program, students learn a second language while continuing to learn and utilize their home language. Our 50% English + 50% Spanish program integrates native Spanish speakers with native English speakers. Students are taught literacy and academic content in English and in Spanish daily as they rotate through two classrooms. The dual language program builds upon students’ strengths, and, by increasing their proficiency in their home language, enables students to acquire a second language.
3 Pillars of Dual Language Immersion
Students in Dual Language Immersion programs come away with higher academic achievement, linguistic proficiency, and sociocultural competence in both languages. Research shows bilingualism has many benefits including improved cognitive skills, memory, decision making, and focus.
Enrollment
All incoming Kindergarteners are eligible to enroll in the Dual Language Immersion Academy at Hannalei, whether they reside within the Vista Unified district or outside the district.
Complete the interest form below to reserve your spot today. In March, Kindergarten registration officially opens. We ask that you follow the regular registration process and then our staff will reach out to you regarding a space in our Dual Language Immersion program.
